I played a solton/ketron MS50 for 22 years without a problem, and I played it hard. The keytar keybed was very comfortable to play for a former drummer. I really liked the touch. Had a definite feel that the psr s970 doesn't have. The voices were very accurate for early sampled technology and the styles were great for the music I played(50s/60s and classic country). I would have loved to get an SD7 but at the time early problems and price was a factor. I still think the ketron styles are the best for my purposes.
That's my story and I'm stickin to it, Allen

I agree with you that Ketron has the best styles, also i agree with the low quallity of the psr series keybeds, only the FSR keybed of the Tyros is good. Personally i prefer Korg, with styles almost as good as Ketron, but the incredible interface with direct access buttons, the indepth onboerd edditing and synth engine and keyboard and build quallity on the pa4x are incredible.

I have an Audya76, S970, and Pa4x76. Audya is best sounding overall, with Korg a close second. I like the S970 for some of the lead voices and many xtyles. I use them all at different venues.

I'm using a Ketron Midjpro, driven by a Tyros4. Absolutely delighted with the Midjpro but wish it had more styles & sounds. Would buy a Ketron MS40 but it doesn't include the RAM sounds of the SD7 although it claims to be an SD7 in module form. My favourite board of all time is the Technics KN7000 but midi out will no longer function.

Finally managed to login now and add my vote for Ketron. I heard that Ketron is only comprised of 4 or 5 people - don't know whether this is correct because they never communicate. Tony

Tony I think it was me that said this, seems that i took only the development and management into account and not the production and logistic team... so the company is a little bigger.. This week, i will start with promoting the Ketron boards, where we will have user forums for all the main products... not having official forums for Ketron (and many other brands is one of the main reasons i am putting effort in this forum... and while there is a Ketron section at Synthzone, many people do not have access to Synthzone... i hope this more open format allows us to build a bigger Ketron community... May i ask why you where having a hard time logging in? If there is a problem we need to take care of thatbas early as possible...

Hi to everyone on Keyszone.
I have owned a Technics kn2400 then a Technics KN7000 then a Tyros 3 then a Tyros 5 and a Ketron SD7.
I still own the Tyros 5 and the SD7 and in all honesty I believe that for my use, (home playing only) the SD7 is by far the better keyboard. I much preferred the sounds on the Tyros 3 as opposed to the Tyros 5 as to me many of the voices on the latter sound sharp and almost grating on the ears. I am not a great lover of the articulated voices on the Tyros 5 but that may be more about my style of playing.
The SD7 however from the first moment I started to play it I felt really comfortable. The sounds and styles are fantastic. The operating system is easier to get my head around. I always found the Yamaha O/S very difficult and quite often gave up before completing some of the projects I started. The colour touch screen is so easy to use. My only criticism is that in poor light it is very hard to read the text on the buttons and sliders.
I enjoy it so much I have just ordered the Super Gold Styles from AJAMsonic.
I really hope this forum takes off as there is nothing out there for Ketron players. Unlike Yamaha.
One question : How do I vote for my favourite arranger as I can find no button or anything to click on.
Alan

Hi, The kn7000 is very hard to beat The ketron audya5 =the styles ,the real audio drums ,the riffs.the organ sounds ,the stings ,piano sounds, and sax very good I thing the kn7000 should be one as favorite, The only thing I notice Ketron as a bad service from Italy,a chance we have AJ and Darren

Was getting a Gateway timed out error - went to Proboards help page but needed to log in and got the the same error there - all fine now though so they soon took action on that. Glad to hear you are going to be promoting Ketron boards as they do so well for a small company with presumably, limited resources compared to the big boys. The SD7 is a fantastic board so the SD9 should cause a few tremors when it arrives. Just a pity that Ketron don't make the same effort to communicate with their loyal fans who spend their money on Ketron boards. Whenever I've emailed them, I have never had a reply. Still think they're the best in the business though at this moment in time. Tony

Many, many years ago I was a top seller of Lowrey organs in southeastern Michigan. Also, sold Baldwin, Yamaha, Technics organs. The one thing they all in common was their ability to sound like a B3. To me, today, it seems the all the other arrangers have a few nice features BUT they all seem to be attemting to get that Yamaha (especially Tyros) sound. Join us, don't try to beat us. Remember, Yamaha's first product was a keyboard, hence the crossed tuning forks for their logo. Don in MI
