In my vision midi should stay as it is to allow communication with older equipment..

And then there should or should not be a "new standard" for communication with computers.
You said Standard?
Does this have to be a standard? Standards have the negative characteristic that they prevent a lot of innovation
In my vision its better to allow communication trough computers and with daws
By letting every company create their own data, and let computer drivers do the translating to the DAW.

This way everything will be much more flexible and will allow every company to keep innovating
Just by offering new protocols

Makes you wondering how many new "Standards" we will see.
